Saluga and Ghazal
Location✋
Saluga and Ghazal protected area are considered as a part of the area of the first cataract.
The cataract area is located 7 Km to the south of Aswan , it's length from south to north is 12 kilometers.
The cataract represents the last obstacle in the way of the Nile River in its course to the Mediterranean.
The protectorate is located at a distance of about 3Km.

Declaration✋
It has been declared as a PA through council of ministers resolution No.928 in year 1986.
Area ✋
The area of the protectorate is estimated to be 0.5 km² approximately and it is regarded as one of the smallest protectorate of Egypt's 30 protectorates which are forming up 14% of the total area of egypt.
Nature✋
It is characterized by diversity in the environments from the sandy areas , igneous rocks and argillaceous deposits.
These lead to the emergence of amazing landscapes and some geological phenomena.
Flora and fauna ✋
The vegetation of the protectorate represent the remnants of Nile valley flora ,where 110 species of flora were recorded at the protectorate , the most famous of them are ( Acacia laeta ,A. raddiana , A. nilotica , A. seyal , faidherbia albida , Lawsonia inermes ,Ziziphus spina-christi salix subserrata ).
According of the medical benefits of many of these plants , it is rich material for research and study.
-In regards of birds the protectorate is regarded as one of the most important destinations of birds in Egypt where 138 species of birds were recorded there are 35 resident birds species while the other are migratory and visitors birds.
-The most common resident birds in the protectorates area ( Moorhen , Purple Swamp Hen , Squacoo Heron , clamerous Reed warbler , and Nile valley sunbirds ).
-The most common migrating birds towards the protectorate are white stork , Glossy lbis and the waders ( Black Winged Stilt , Common Sandpiper , Ruff ) in addition to 6 species of ducks ( shoveler , teal Pochard , wigeon , pintail , ferruginous Duck ).
-the different environments and the variety of protected plant lead to the emergence of a unique diversity in insects where they were more than 60 species of Butterflies , Dragonflies , Beetles , Bees , Grasshoppers and other recording.
-With the rising of water level many freshwater molluscs appear e.g. Acroloxus Sp , Biomphalaria sp , and Cleopatra Cyclostomades.
-About Reptiles Nubian Spitted Cobra , Tarentola annularis , trachlepis Quinquetaeniata were monitored.
